Re: Dr Francis Grimke - From Slavery To Reconciliation
I saw your comments about Dr.Francis Grimke. I am actually related to him. His father, Henry Grimke, who was the brother of the two abolitionist sisters, Sarah and Angelina, as well as my great-great-great grandfather, Thomas Smith Grimke, was my great-great-great-great uncle. I would suggest that anyone interested in the life of Francis should also purchase a copy of the book about Francis' brother: Archibald Grimke: Portrait of a Black independent. I have my own website - www.grimke.co.uk - which has the title: From Slavery To Reconciliation. My latest newsletter is located on the homepage. I address the issues of reparations and apology. 2007 has indeed been a momentous year for me personally. During my visit to Charleston in South Carolina n September 2006, I met members of the same family as Nancy Weston, Francis's mother. We now have a strong bond of friendship. I have a talk with a Powerpoint presentation. If anyone is interested in hosting me, please get in touch. My contact details are: 01144-7726-196253 / grimke@hotmail.co.uk / info@grimke.co.uk
All the best,
Bill Grimke-Drayton.
